Guatemala is recovering from two back to back Cat 4 hurricanes ( last November) that have left much basic recovery needed such as housing repair, water accessibility and infrastructure.
In Taco the families walk up a hillside close to a mile to get water from a pipe that has to be boiled to drink. In Morales a proposed medical clinic needs a well as a first step to providing basic medical care.
Clean water would be easily accessible - no long carries and no boiling. The time saved means the ability to prioritize that time toward study and work for a family.
A deep well with a pump and concrete pad is approximately $5,000.
